Grammer Books

Almost every book on the Goddess is good resource or comparison source for your continuing studies. You just have to know which parts are right and which are not; which books are written by authors with heavy christian or other negetive influence, and which are not; which rituals are sincere and valid, and which are Pagan or Wiccan fluff. This can be very confusing! One of our most important functions as Temple High Priests is to help and guide you in these areas, in determining what is best for the care and keeping of our Goddess Aset, and for the spreading of Her Name and Love to the world as much as possible in a positive way.

One of the best and simplest ways to accomplish this, is for us to simply be there for you, to be a sounding board you can bounce ideas, and information on, and recieve our inspired feelings and opinions on them. In this way the Goddess Aset can more easily open you eyes to those truths which are hidden, and sometimes there are great revelations on both sides, that when we are separated, neither side could see.

Through the internet and over the years, we have gathered a large list of reference and reading material which would take half a lifetime to read and go through. The following books about the religion, culture and philosophy of Kemet are recommended reading for devotees of the Kemetic faith. Please note that these books are not required or mandatory reading, nor does inclusion in this list imply that we agree with everything each book says or that each book is a perfect reflection of Kemetic teachings. It is our opinion that a reading of these texts will enhance the faithful's understanding of the religion itself and make them aware of issues concerning ancient Egypt and its religion.

Grammar Books

Hoch, James, Middle Egyptian Grammar (Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities series vol.15 [The grammar book presently used at U.C. Berkeley and other major universities in first-year Middle Egyptian language classes. IMHO still the best grammar available in English for beginning students]

Allen, James P., Middle Egyptian: An Introduction to the Language and Culture of Hieroglyphs [the latest Egyptian grammar written in English, differing from "Standard Theory" in some grammatical points and containing interesting essays about Kemetic society and thought. recommended as a supplement to Hoch's grammar.]

Gardiner, Sir Alan, Egyptian Grammar: Being an Introduction to the Study of Hieroglyphs [the most comprehensive reference grammar, with thousands of examples of every grammatical structure. Outdated in some technical points and very difficult to use as a textbook for self-study, but still excellent as a supplementary reference to the other two textbooks mentioned]
