Robes & Beverages
It is traditional to wear robes as servants, and as priests and priestesses of the Goddess Aset. It seem to give you an extra linkage to the Goddess for the ritual. Just like the items you choose to use for your alter, its style and colors are completely up to you. I like to try to get as close to the typical Egyptian casual style as possible, and this is the common Egyptian caftan style. The Caftan is an every ritual wear. It is easily made with a pattern or purchased in an Occult or Egyptian shop. Its not smart to wear something you're not comfortable in. It should be cool in the summer, and warm in the winter, or you can make one for each season if you wish. You also would wear something, where when you look in the mirror you don't like how it looks, well don't get that one then! And again the color should be a color you like. You wouldn't pick a color you don't like to wear to a ritual to show Aset how much you love her, would you? Than Don't do that either. The lesson here is, pick a style, shape, color, cloth, fit, that you like best, or make it. And enjoy what you are wearing. That is the most important thing. Make sure it's loose and comfortable! You don't have to wear anything at all either if you wish. I enjoy going sky clad myself sometimes. Enjoy yourself during rites, do get overly bothered by your appearance. Be comfortable in your robe and in your body!
Traditionally the most used and popular beverage of ancient Egypt was beer. Its not the beer you think of today. It was often light and thin with no carbonation and certainly not cold. Another drink they liked was honey milk, which is kind of like mead! and of course there were others. If you wanted to come close as possible to the old ways, a strong dark ale and let it set open to come to room temperature and allow it to go flat. Don't drink stale beer, it can make you sick. Just Room Temp and flat! Wine is good too! A light Sweet Red wine is best. An example is Sangria which in Spanish means Blood! The Boones Farm brand of inexpensive Sangria is quite good! Remember the reason for the drinks is blessing and honor, not intoxication.
